Common Loon

Was recently in the Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge in southwest Georgia on the Chattahoochee River and came across a collection of migrating Loons who seemed to be enjoying the fact that no waterfowl hunting was allowed within the refuge. The Loons were very accommodating for a late afternoon photo session with some nice setting sun light.
Hand held from boat, 65% of full frame.

Great stuff, Mikey. In the larger view, the detail is very good and the color palette is excellent. I wish the loon had a little more virtual room to swim into, but that's a minor nit.

Wow Mike, the low-angle light on this bird really brings out the texture in the feathers.
On my monitor, the blue/cyan looks very intense, but then again, I seldom see blue skies up here ;^)

That's a really lovely image Mike of a Loon in a serene environment. I especially like the colour of the water in the afternoon light but the blue does seem a bit saturated on my monitor. I would love to see these myself. Graham

Nice low angle, Mike. I like the looks of the water and the blue reflection streaks. The loon is well exposed and crisply focused. Well done.
