Hi NPN,

I was in Grand Haven, MI last year, and Lake Michigan really caught my attention with the way way the light was reflecting on the water. I was originally trying to do some landscape work, but this abstract image spoke out to me on this evening.

I appreciate any comments, critiques, or thoughts y'all may have on this image.

thank you so much for all of the input y'all have given me

Ryan,
Wow, this is excellent. Well seen. Great comp and love the mix of warm/cool tones. Beautiful as rendered but I might burn down the bright area at the very top of the frame.

Always nice to see some abstract stuff! Love this one, shutter speed is spot on, with the right amount of blurring. The faint glitter path is sweet as well. I think Dave's suggestion is a good one to make this look even better.

Beautiful light, reflection and repeating pattern of lines to anchor the whole thing. Very painterly too. I like it a lot.

Ryan, This is really cool looking. Perfect composition and shutter speed for this capture. The light and colors are both wonderful. The warm and cool tones work so nicely here. I love it! Look forward to meeting up in the north.

Hi Ryan, wonderful colours - as already states shutter spot on ... in as much as the top right could be burnt a little to darken it i wonder whether a little dodge on the bottom right might just make it a 'tad less heavy' in that corner ... (not sure really)
Cheers, Mark

Ryan, a very soft & relaxing feeling to this scene. The slight diagonal flow the wakes have created makes for a excellent composition. I really like how they all seem to work towards the very small dry area left in the scene in LRHC. A small detail there, but important to the scene IMO. laugh

Ryan, a fine catch, with a good series of waves.  I especially like how the sun streak gets stronger from top to bottom.

Ryan,

Beautiful!  I love that you zoomed in a bit to showcase just the reflected light, color, lines and form.

No one has mentioned it, so it's really not a big deal, especially since this in on the abstract side of things, but I wanted to mention that I think the cyan is a little strong here.  But perhaps like Harley's recent image, reducing the cyan might take away the impact and your vision, so it's still a subjective thing.  Regardless, you've still captured and crafted a wonderful image.

I love the diagonals of the waves along with the warm and cool colors in this image, Ryan. I particularly like that wet section of beach with that warm reflection of light. Fantastic work.
