Light Veil

Here is another image from that fine morning in Death Valley. It is a wider view and from a little different time in the morning than my previous B&W post. It was one heck of a great time watching those clouds put on their show.

Harley, I really like the earlier B&W, but I think this color image is very lively. The color and details are excellent, and I love the alternating bands of light, color and texture. Nicely done, sir!

Harley,
This is very nice. You caught some great conditions - the hanging clouds and spotlighting on the mountains. If it were mine I would burn down that one bright area on the mountainside center left.

Yes, nice light show on the Panamints.   Fine imaging.  This is what makes the drive there worthwhile.

Easy choice for me, this is the winner! The colors add so much to this scene, and this is just phenomenal. No nits!

Harley:

Certainly not a poll, but I do like the vision and power of the B&W better.  Clouds make for so much excitement, and uncertainty!

Thanks for sharing!    Tom

You can not go wrong with either version, Harley. I really like the interplay of light and shadow in this landscape. I also like the way the clouds frame the snow capped peaks from the rest of the mountain. Very nicely done.

Harley,

How fortunate you were to have been able to witness and participate in the cloud show.  This is wonderful!  Ok, so I think the b&w shows more drama, but this stands majestically on it's own.  That line of gray clouds and shadow below the peaks is wonderful.  I like the blue/brown combo of colors, and the color/sat look spot on.

Hard to find anything critical, but I try... ;-)  This is very, very minor and maybe no one would think of this, or agree.  But to me, I would slightly dodge the UL part of the sky/clouds.  Yes, they are already dark gray given the conditions, but in a subtle way, I find my eye getting pulled to that upper left corner; it's slightly "heavy" relative to the light/exposure in the rest of the scene.  Again, doesn't change my enjoyment of this, just a nitpicky observation and opinion.

Beautiful light and shadow show, Harley.  The lower band of clouds really work well, I also could a slight dodge of the upper clouds, but either way, a very nice image.

Very nice layering here.  The golden and blue hues interspersed with the clouds have allowed you to create a wonderful panorama.
