Bearded Bellbird

As a new NPN member, it is only fitting that I introduce myself with this photo of a Bearded Bellbird.  Twenty years ago, I had a birding tour company called Bellbird Safaris, and I have a beard.  I took this photo 7 days ago at Asa Wright in Trinidad.  It was wonderful to just stake out a known perch on a forest trail and listen to these birds' haunting calls, while waiting for one to come into my view.  I took this with my Canon 7D II at 700mm with a Canon 500mm f/4L IS II USM lens with a 1.4 III teleconverter.  1/250th, f/7.1, ISO 1600 using fill flash with a Better Beamer.

Welcome to NPN, Charles.  It will be nice to augment our cadre of birders as a lot of us are rather less skilled at the birding aspect of the discipline.  This is a cool first post with a nice job of focusing through the oof foreground vegetation and good exposure.  I like the calling pose.  On the negative side, the steep angle makes for a somewhat awkward presentation and that oof foreground vegetation is a bit of a distraction.  Welcome again.  This is a great place to hone your craft.

Thanks very much Dennis for the comments.  I fully agree.  These guys were exceedingly hard to photograph.  Generally high in the trees and well back from trail access.  This bird was the closest one ever came but as such I was really shooting ar a steep angle.
