Shikra

This past October we visited the Chumphon area of Thailand where each October over 200,000 raptors pass south on their migration.  On Khao Dinsor, a hill near the Gulf of Thailand, there are raptor counting stations akin to places like Hawk Mountain in the US.  There are some good photo opportunities as the birds sometimes pass by quite low.  This Shikra is one of 3 accipiter species which is a common migrant there.

Very cool, Nate.  Excellent job on this image with very nice light in the eye.

A very sharp image.  Hard to do hand-holding.  Well done.

Nice wing spread and love those eyes. They look almost amber in color. Nice work Nate.

I like the flight pose you captured of this sparrowhawk, Nate. The vertical composition works well with the pose.
