Ambling Giraffe

Nice comp here, Morkel, with lots of room for him to roam. The horizon line intersecting the giraffe right at the belly bothered me more in the thumbnail than the 720px version, and it bothers me even less in the large version. Perhaps ideally placing it slightly higher would be a very minor improvement but that's both debatable and subjective. I think this image is as much about the BEAUTIFUL sky and open expanse of grassland as it is about the giraffe, but the three elements come together wonderfully with a nice contrasting band of trees to make the horizon interesting. 

The giraffe sure looks good against all of the blue tones in the sky, Morkel.  His colors also match well with the grasses.  I agree with John, that this view benefits well from the combination of animal, plains, and especially the sky as opposed to a tighter look at the giraffe.

I'm not really bothered by the skyline, but sky peeping under the belly is bit distracting. You could boost the saturation a little, if you like.

Looks just fine as posted...and then I wonder if you added contrast to the nicely clouded sky and a touch of warmth to the giraffe and the grass plain if this would really jump!
