Coati on the Run

Here's a South American Coatimundi photographed at Pousada Piuval in the Pantanal of Brazil.  We were photographing Hyacinth Macaws when this Coati showed up and then went running past us when we focused on him.

I do like this action shot of a coati!  It is not super sharp, but does show good detail and colors.  I would have been excited to have a chance to photograph it.  Thanks for sharing.

Very impressive, Nate. We never saw Coatis in decent light; always pre-dawn or post-sunset. The extensive blurred foreground isn't ideal, but in the higher grass there's not much you can do.

Hi Nate,

This guy will always win by a snout when in a race. A good action shot. BG is very busy, but that's what nature provided for you when you took the shot.  I do like how you caught him when he was pushing off with the hind legs........................Jim

Cool action shot of this seldom seen animal Nate. You have been getting some awesome shots down south of the cats and others.

Nate: excellent capture of the action. I like the pose, especially the extended tail. Richard

I looked all over southern Arizona for these a couple years ago, and you had one run up to you.  Of course, the Pantanal is a farther drive...

Very nice.  With the grass, you got him at the right instant.

Nate,
Unexpected images often work out well, and this is a fine example.
Great pose and detaildevil
