Waldviertel

The Waldviertel (Forest Quarter) is the northwestern region of the Austrian state of Lower Austria. Situated only one hours drive from our capitol Vienna, living conditions are quite different. Weather is rather rough and cold there. Small towns and farm houses are scattered, because most towns have been destroyed during the Hundred Years' War and and not all of them have been rebuilt.

The juxtapposition of the tree and the wooden barn was really interesting and appealing to me, symbolizing the connection between man and nature.

Comments and critique are welcome.

This is a very moody image, and a lovely place. I like the soft light. Even though there isn't much detail in the snow, its tone looks spot-on. You did a nice job processing this one, Peter.

This has a somber mood to it Peter. I like the starkness and the feeling of cold it portrays.

This is a wonderful winter scene, Peter, and very nice work! On this hot 95 degree F day it is pretty cool to look at. Cheers, Nick
