Spring Reflections

I thoroughly enjoy all the subtle greens and yellows of fresh spring growth.  In this case, I used the wave motion in the water to turn those reflections into an abstract.  Cropped to 70% of ff.  (5D3, 70-200 f2.8 @ 200 mm, f/9, 1/50s, iso 1600, tripod and polarizer)

Very nice abstract, very Monet-like. I like the patterns and colors.

Nice abstract of splashes of color. I'm working on a similar composition myself. I feel it's a bit too busy. I keep looking around without resting, not knowing where you intend for me to look. That's my only issue. The sense of water is wonderfully conveyed in numerous places.

Mark,

Excellent reflection abstract.  Great job isolating this down to the primary patterns and colors.  What works really well is portraying the sense of motion of the waves, yet this is sharp and vivid.  Well seen and presented.

Mark, those ripples are perfect for transforming the reflections of the colors into a pleasing abstract.  The ripples provide texture, and your composition of the different sections of the reflection creates patterns on a larger scale which I think make this image work.  My eye wanders from place to place in this composition, but every place my eye lands, I find beauty, so I don't think that's a bad thing.

Mark, you have this wonderful ability to see these water abstracts and pull them off with regularity. Really nice.

Igor, in my mind there are two ways to go with abstracts.  There's the "realistic abstract" with barely recognizable objects where adhering to the notions of conventional composition can be useful and there's the "totally abstract" where all conventions can be discarded.  For me, a total abstract is about trying to convey an emotion rather than a sense of place.  In this case, the dynamic sense of life's renewal on a warm early spring day with bright sun and a gentle breeze.

Excellent, Mark. I like the wave pattern to go with the colors.

The diversity of all the colors is what makes this one so attractive. You can't go wrong with these wave abstracts, but those extra colors add a lot of interesting stuff to explore.

Great patterns and diagonal bands of color. This is a nicely balanced abstract. Well done, Mark!

Beautiful abstract, Mark.  Love the mix of silvery water with the greens and warmer tones.  Nice.

Very pleasing abstract with the range of colours and patterns. I would probably crank up the midtone contrast a tad for more punch.
