Little Blue Heron Chicks

"Someday Bert, I'll be up there too; I'll be an Eagle!" cool

I love imagining that these little guys dream like human kids.  This was taken at the Live Oak Rookery in May of 2015.  The light was filtered by clouds so the whites don't really pop against the background as I would prefer.  I have done some slight sharpening and minor contrast adjustment.  The lens loses sharpness beyond  500mm, and at the shooting distance, it often takes a large crop to get the composition I like.  Overall though, I think the sharpness holds up reasonably well.

D7200, tripod, cable release.
1/1000, f/6.3
ISO 500
Tamron 150-600 @ 460mm
Cropped to 17% of the frame.

Comments and your thoughts are welcome.

The sharpness looks excellent for the large crop, Raoul.  I like your composition and the typical busy rookery bg doesn't distract significantly from the chicks.  Nice poses.

Hey Raoul,
This is one of those 'Make You Smile' images and the great title takes that to a full blown chuckle.
Nice detail, the whites look great and the environment works. The large version should not be missed.
Well done . . .  devil

Thanks for the comments Dennis and Mike; I appreciate that.  I almost didn't post this one, but the little guy on the left just kept making me smile.

Raoul this is a very interesting capture.  The look on the second chick is priceless.  I too wonder what birds are thinking.
