Shaggy Stroller

A rare find - a Brown Hyaena in golden morning light, hastily making his way from the Rooiputs waterhole in the Kalahari.
He was moving parallel to my vehicle for a while, and I mostly tried slow shutter panning images - switched to a fast SS at the end to make sure I at least nail some sharp shots too...

Techs:
Nikon D4s
Nikkor 400mm f2.8 VR
2x teleconverter (800mm effective focal length)
f8.0 | 1/3200 SS | ISO-1600

Nice capture in great light.  The subject shows well against the clean background.  The image has a three dimensional quality to it.  Nice work.

Nice clear view, Morkel.  I think I would've been doing the same thing, panning for blur and then remembering later to capture some sharper shots. enlightened  This does a very nice job of depicting this species' odd body proportions.

Good and sharp, too.  I like the two raised feet, the eye & nose reflections, and the characteristic body profile.

Hi Morkel,

My initial response was simply "What a bizarre looking creature". As Lon pointed out, I like the upraised feet and the lighting is excellent. Nicely done.

Cheers...

That is quite the hairy "dog", Morkel.  The long hair sure makes the legs stand out.  The feet in the air are a fine catch and the sharpness looks great.
