Uncovering Mineral

Low clouds and fog were dispersing after a summer rain to reveal this valley near Silverton, Colorado.  The sky in the original full image did not appeal to me, so I kept cropping down until this square scene resulted.

I think the square crop works very nicely here, Doug.  Love the hanging clouds and the great sense of depth to the image.

Doug, This is really quite a view and you did an excellent job capturing it. I too like the square crop and how it works here.

I like the zig-zagging elements with the fog, Doug. The fog in the valley adds a lot to the scenic view.

Great sweeping view down into the fog covered valley. The diagonals add a lot devilof interest to the comp.

This works very well, Doug.  The emphasis on the lovely green ridge in the foreground is good and then the combination of clouds and zig-zag valley provide a strong sense of depth.

Wonderful use of diagonals Doug.  I like the various layers of elements too.

I love the moodiness of the image. The clouds sure work well with the rich greens. The crop is working for me.

This works Doug.  The diagonals keep the square from feeling too static, and the fog creates a great mood.

The square format works perfectly for this image, Doug, really emphasizing the strong diagonals and that fantastic fog low in the valley.  Excellent!

One of my favorite places in Colorado is the Durango/Silverton area.  Wonderful shot with the clouds and like the view going up the canyon.  This may make for a nice B&W image as well and the larger image looks great.  Way to go.
