An Owl's Garden

For those familiar with Malheur NWR, I was walking through the Long Barn at the P Ranch when I saw a dark flash fly past the barn door and when I came to the door this Great Horned Owl was resting on the post.  This was probably as close as I've been able to get to a GHO, but I also liked the setting with the wild roses in the background.

Comments for improvement are always appreciated.  Thanks for looking.

Unusual to see a Great Horned in broad daylight like this. A good perch and an unusual and attractive background. I saw three GHOWs in Malheur last weekend and all were darker morphs than this handsome bird.

He gave you a great pose to work with here Allen. Interesting for me to see an owl in this setting, and as Jim noted especially during the day. I like your comp and techs here as well.

A stunner for sure.  Great light, eye contact and a killer background.  I like your composition.

He couldn't have picked a better spot to perch.  No nits here.  Great shot!

What a great find and wonderful setting, Allen.  Looks like it just finished breakfast.  I've never stopped there.  Now I'll have to give it a look.
