B-C Night Heron
by Max Waugh
I made my first visit to a couple of wildlife refuges in Idaho over Memorial Day weekend, which was a nice respite from the insane crowds in Yellowstone. It was fun exploring new territory, and I was pretty impressed with the amount of birdlife.
Among the species I photographed for the first time was the Black-crowned night heron, by far my best view of a bird I typically only see sleeping during the day. There were several herons hunting along the waterways early in the morning and at dusk.
