I led a couple of workshops in Southern Arizona in May, this is one of the common species in the desert areas there.  This was taken at the Pond at Elephant Head (Bill Forbes place).  I sprinkled suet and seed on the perch.  Taken close to last light.
Canon 5D3 500F4 1/2000 F6.3, iso 800, Gitzo tripod, Wimberley head.

Very nice wing position and love the soft light Nate. These guys are super quick, so nice work getting this. BTW, I was at Bill's place just a couple weeks ahead of you. Going back out in early September.

Great timing Nate, and the light is very nice on this. Details and background make this a cool image.

I like the dynamic pose and sweet light, Nate. The horizontal composition also goes well with the scene. I find the unattached stalk on the top right side a little distracting - I would have either liked to see it as part of the main perch or may be clone it out altogether.

This looks fantastic. Wonderful light and the background works beautifully. The large version is a real treat and I love the detail.

Wonderful light and detail, Nate, with a sweet perch as well.  I like the half spread wings.
