This is my personal neighborhood watch, who showed up about 2 weeks ago.  He/she is here every morning and every evening.  Please ignore any softness, as this is cropped from a larger photos.

Quite a watch bird, Lucy. The angle isn't ideal but you got everything the bird gave you.

Nice Mississippi Kite. One of my favorites. Keep it up and hopefully you will get a better angle.

Is there a way to tell if this is a male or female kite?

The angle isn't ideal, because he/she is so darned high!  There is not way I could get to that level without climbing a tree.  At least, the bird has chosen a tree not a telephone pole...much more pleasingenlightened

Hi Lucy:

Looks like you have a very cooperative subject. The tree stump is a good secondary point of focus. You may try moving away and getting more of a profile. That should make a more pleasing composition.

Could you get a ladder out and get a little higher vantage point?

David...I probably could, but it might just be too close for the site's comfort zone.  Might run him off for good.

They do have a habit of perching up like that, Lucy.  In this case I like the steepness of the angle as it emphasizes the height of the bird and adds to the sense of a watchman.

Congrats on getting this bird in frame Lucy. I am still looking for a close encounter personally. I do with the angle wasn't so severe. Hope you can get a more level angle opportunity next time.

I wish I could get a level angle, but, he won't come down....I wish he would land on my fence.

Just realized, that this is a male.   He got a girlfriend today.  She has a whiter head. And a more slender neck.  Yea...a mating pair!
