Porphyrula martinica

I was really excited to find this Purple Gallinule at South Lake Howard Nature Park in Winter Haven, Florida. It took 5 trips to Florida to finally see this species, a new species for me.

1D Mk IV, 500mm f4L IS
1/250, f8, Exposure comp -.33
ISO 400

Great look at this colorful bird. Never been able to grab an image of this species. Well done.

Fine framing of this one, Matt, and good to see the large feet and claws clinging to the marsh vegetation.  I see the Common very often but have never seen this species.

Nice catch with great colors, Matt.  I wasn't lucky enough to bag one of these in Florida-maybe sometime.  I like the pose and the great look at the feet.  Nicely done.

Great detail and color, Matt. Plenty of habitat, and a good look at the feet!  Well done!

The colors of the bird contrasting with the colors of the habitat make this work for me. Everything is sharp where it needs to be. Very nice image.

Really nice work on this Matt, the bird shows very well, especially those big feet. The detail is excellent and I love the comp.
