Lone Tree

I was over in the Wa State palouse country last week.  In the midst of cutting the wheat, soy, lentils, etc...and dry weather... a different look and feel than the usual spring-time shooting.  So imagine my surprise seeing 20+ photographers on Steptoe Butte mid-week to shoot the sunrise.   The good-old days of no crowds in the off-season are becoming history.

This is a lone cottonwood surrounded by recently cut stubble from a wheat field.  The clouds were terrific as the sun was setting.

Nikon d800e with Nikon 24-70mm lens at 24 mm.

Only 20+ photographers? Lucky you. It is a different look and feel, and I like it. B/W is the right choice. A very dynamic photo.

Nice one Ken. The swirl in the clouds above the tree really makes this for me.

Very nice, Ken. Effective use of black and white.

Photographers are annoying but they are nothing in comparison to the selfie crowd.

Great composition Ken. Your POV makes that tree look humongous. Love the dramatic clouds. Perfect for B&W treatment.

The wheat stubble creates some nice leading lines and your placement of the lone tree is perfect.  Love the b/w treatment, makes it very dramatic.  I always love solitary tree shots!
