21st Century Rhino

This is becoming a more common look for today's rhinos.  Many parks and game reserves, especially in southern Africa, are cutting off horns in an attempt to save their rhinos from poachers.  The horns do grow back, so it's an ongoing process until a solution to the poaching epidemic is found.

Wow. That's a bit of a shock Max. I think you have done a very nice job expressing the situation as it made my stomach lurch a little bit.

Max: a sad state of affairs indeed. What's even sadder is that I've been told the dehorned animals are shot by poachers nonetheless so that they won't waste time tracking them in the future. Richard

Wow. We have to maim them to save them. A great illustration and emotionally charged capture, Max.

Max, this looks like a poster for wildlife conservation with the dep dark shadows. The rhino looks a bit forlorn without it's horn.

Sickening to have to resort to this, but at least a temporary solution to keep them alive.
Congrats on the (sad) WP -
