Fledgling Goldfinch
by Dennis Plank
When the Goldfinches come in they have a wide range of plumage from a downy appearance to almost full grown first winter plumage and quite a bit of variety in the latter. We have one this year with a brilliant yellow cap that I haven't been able to photograph yet. This image is from early July and is one of the downy looking variety.
7DII, Sigma 150-600 C @ 562 mm, hand held, f/6.3, 1/500, iso 640, aperture priority, pattern metering. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Cropped to an 8.4 MP 4x5 before resizing. Taken at 8:06 PM on July 3rd.
