Mushroom Abstract

These mushroom heads are dappled in red so I decided to do an abstraction in BW.  I played around with some luminosity masking with the original colored version and transformed it into a black and white image.  I selectively darkened the grass BG and finished the image with an adjustment to the brightness & contrast.  I usually do not do this type of photography so please fire away with your critiques.  K5 IIs 180mm f 3.2 (ISO 200, 1/4 sec at f18).  Thank you............................Jim

The texture on the cap does look nice, Jim.  Looks like an Agaricus after a rain.

Cool shot Jim. I have to wonder what they'd look like in red though.

Your processing works very well here Jim, as the grasses make a good, but subtle background with their lines, in contrast to the brightness and the dappling of the mushrooms.  I think your comp. works well also, providing some sense of movement while focusing attention on the centered cap.

I'm enjoying this very much.  Very nice composition and excellent processing.  I would love to see a color version as well, but I like this quite a bit.

I like this a lot, Jim. The tones look very nice. You might consider deepening the darkest blacks just a bit. The composition works well for me.

Shrooming on a Sunday afternoon! I like this a lot. Good comp, fine abstract and great tones and shapes.
