Oak Ridge

I had the annual pleasure of spending the first week of October in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado.  Late afternoon backlighting gave the oak brush an almost fluorescent glow.

Beautiful glowing colors and really nicely popped by the dark background. It works for me.

Awesome colors on the oak scrub, Doug...and a wonderful flow of the ridge line.  Wish the highlighted tree was presented from a lower angle so it was contrasted higher against the darker background. But recognize we are somewhat bound and limited by the what is accessible. Nice work.

Doug, What a wonderful capture. I love the dramatic light and color you found here. You also managed to set up a comp that works quite nice.

Doug, beautiful fall colors and contrasts here, and I love the wave shape created by the top of the bright foliage. I also really like the subtle darkening at the left and right edges to keep the eye in the image. This creates a great spotlight effect.

Quite a play of light and colour in the midst of the surrounding dark, Doug.  I like the drama of this.

Love how you isolated these backlit bushes and that tree against the dark background, and immediate foreground.  This beautiful autumn foliage seems to be almost suspended in space.  Excellent work.

Maybe feels a bit dark, but it certainly achieves a dramatic presentation.  That strong central band of color is particularly effective.

Thank you for the comments and feedback.  Michael-just a tiny tweek in levels helped those highlights.

The comp. is wonderful as is the lighting.  Looks a little soft - maybe that is the " f4 oops" or slightly out of focus?  Nice abstractness to this.
