Lake Superior Waves

This is another picture I made of the waves on Lake Superior at Split Rock Lighthouse. Split Rock Lighthouse State Park is on the Lake Superior north shore in Minnesota. It was an awesome day to captures the waves on the big lake.

Definitely Superior Wave Action! Just right shutter speed to retain a feeling of action.

Many people don't realize that exceptional storms and wave action are not unusual on the Great Lakes.
I grew up there, and I well remember my uncle (marina owner) raising hurricane-force flags a number of times.
Excellent image - great perspective, perfect SS for the wave action, and the lighthouse in the BG gives perspective.

Powerful image Nick. I never realized the powerful wave action that occurs on the great lake until I saw some of your photos a while back.

Tom, Sandy and Eva, Thanks for your thoughts on this one. I had a great time (even being very wet) while shooting this. The waves on Lake Superior and the rest of the Great Lakes can be very impressive. They do take lives and one needs to be aware of the lake conditions. Nick

Impressive image!!! Great catch of the wave action. I like the sky and lighthouse BG, gives scale and location, but supports rather than takes away from the water IMHO. Thanks for sharing.
