Taken this past weekend of the Atlantic Ocean, in Rehoboth Beach Delaware, during Civil Twilight settings - F22, Tv 25 seconds, ISO 100, focal length 55mm

I am looking for critic, open honest comments on how to improve, what I did right OR wrong.

thanks
Buddy

Well, Buddy, I certainly don't think you did anything wrong here.  You made a mysteriously pleasing image. No nits from me.

It looks very nice to me Buddy.  If I were going to be REAL PICKY, I might suggest a small crop off the top (10-15%) to remove the lighter part of the sky but, again, that's being pretty picky.

The slow shutter speed has created a nice effect here. The sea has lost definition and is just swaths of color merging into one another. There's a gentle dreamy feeling about it, which is how calm waters feel anyway. I would move the pier a bit more off center, to the right by cropping judiciously yet preserving the overall frame dimensions. BTW, this belongs in the Man and Nature gallery.

Love the diffuse, ethereal look of the water set against the warms tones of the sunrise and what I assume are the remnants of an old pier.  I might try and reduce the brightness of the uppermost areas of the sky as those bright areas do seem to pull the eye away from the rest of the image.  Nicely done.

Thanks for the comments, yes, I thought about a crop to take a bit off the top and to bring the jetty more towards the sweet spot. Shooting at that time of the morning poses some interesting challenges. I tried to do some light painting along the waves but that did not work out as I had hoped.

Q: is there a way to change this to the correct gallery?

If you move the pier more to the right you may lose the beautiful sky above it. Misty calming feel and the colors are wonderful. You captured nature at it best that day.

Buddy: Wonderful color palette and a very pleasing comp and capture. I'll go along with the top crop suggestions but you don't need to remove much.
This should be in Man & Nature. If you look at your thumbnail there is a small edit link. Go there and you'll find a drop down to choose which gallery to place your image. Select Man & Nature and then hit update your photo and you're done.

Very soft and moody - unique colours and perfect perspective.
Congrats on your first WP!
more to come, I'm sure -

Dramatic colors with soft and peaceful textures.  I love the simplicity of the scene with the contrasting structural look of the wharf showing through.  Very nicely composed and a great job handling the exposure and colors of the sunset.  Great image, Buddy! devil
