Spark's Lake has been on my radar for awhile, and I finally made it down there earlier this month. It's a special spot; I can see why so many photographers are drawn there. There were quite a few people enjoying the spot the night before, but the morning I took this I had the place to myself. (That's always nice for reflections, because even people stopping on logs that poke into the water can create ripples. And, it always helps to make your dog wait in the care too enlightened.)

Gorgeous image, John. Yes, this is frequently shot, but you came away with something quite different with the branches in the water, which adds an artistic touch. The soft colors are sublime and the processing looks spot on to me.

John,

Wow.  Spot on colors and processing with this one (as usual with your work.)  So easy to take the classic shot with just the mirrored foreground, but kudos to you for making this composition work with the fallen tree breaking up the reflection.  as Scott mentioned, it puts this on another artistic level.

Difficult to find or offer any nit picks with this image, but I'll go ahead anyway.  Not sure if a crop or processing work would work better, but I'm drawn a little to the light space to the left of the trees (both above and in the reflection.)   Just a thought, very minor indeed.

This is amazing. I live 24 miles from this spot. There's a paved trail to this spot. Everyone stops here and takes a picture. Every time I come here I walk away muttering to myself that there is nothing I can do which I haven't seen a hundred times before. Yet this is clearly beautifl, unique, and refreshing. Part of is the great atmospheric conditions and the rest is that branch, which, for the life of me, I can't recall. This would have been an exceptional image with or without the branch, but it makes it unique and it does add to the image IMO.

This is a beauty, John.  The colors and the twin peaks are lovely.  While the foreground branches add interest and a bit of drama, the reflection is so spectacular, that I'd love to see a version without the branches.

Hi John, a beautifully shot image and great processing - being from Europe I'm not so familiar with the location but would find it hard to think of a better rendition. Perhaps a 'brave' choice to go with the trees but definitely a good way to go - the bird is a nice touch.  The tiniest of nits: I think I would have liked the last of the branches on the left hand trees to be just in frame, with the frame edge cutting the background hill instead - like it very much!

Beautiful sky, scene and reflection!  I am actually on the fence about the branch in the foreground. It adds depth, but to my eye, takes away from the sweet simplicity of the scene. I am still contemplating it.

John, I don't think it gets any better than this! Absolutely beautiful image. The branch in the front was a great idea to add even more interest to an already wonderful image. I always love your processing on these web files. Just beautiful!!

Gorgeous image, John. I can not think of a better way to start the day than watching a beautiful scene unfold before me with this sweet light. I also like the way you made sure that the branch did not intersect with the reflection of the mountains. Great work.

Lovely scene.  I like how even the branches in the water frame the mountains.

Wow, John, what a beauty.  Lovely glass reflection of this sunrise and I like the placement of the branches in the scene.  Processing is spot on, no nits from me. Sweet work as always.

Great to see the use of some other foreground than the usual rocks we see here! Looks like you scored some awesome light. Nothing I can find to criticize.

Wonderful serene scene. Amazing clarity in the reflection, and I do like the branch filigree on the bottom.

So nice to see a unique view of this often photographed lake, John.  Your inclusion of the fallen tree in the foregound adds such a nice element to the beautiful reflection and color.  And it seems like that fallen tree cooperated quite nicely given the higher branch on the left hand side 'fitting' so nicely between the mountains.  Wonderful detail and color.  One gorgeous, incredible image.

Nice of the branches and bird for the comp. can't  beat the lighting and clouds. Peaceful scene and view. I can see why it is often photographed, but this looks stellar to me.
