I love the way his feathers look.

Very nice capture, Barbara. Good details in the blacks as well as some well-ruffled feathers.

Great exposure and handling of the blacks. Nice perch, bright eye, ruffled feathers, and perch.
The lighter twig might distract some, but it would be tough to remove, so i think it's fine.
But try the content-aware removal tool in CS6, if you do want to try to remove it.
Very nice work!

Beautiful, Barbara.  I don't know what caused it, but the flow in the bg helps convey with windy day as much as the windblown feathers.  Lovely light and a nice composition as well.  The only improvement I can suggest is possible to lift the darkest blacks just a bit.  I always find that a delicate operation, because if they're lifted too far, it just doesn't look real.

The larger detailed image really portrays the wind conditions quite well.  The bird is really sharp and you did a good job with the exposure on the black feathers.  I would also clone out the stick on the left.
