Giraffe Sunrise

It took me a long time, but I finally had an opportunity to land the clichéd giraffe sunrise/sunset photo.  I took this on the final morning of my tour group's visit to Kruger National Park in July.  Given that I was usually lacking wildlife during the best sunrises/sunsets or lacking a good sun altogether, I was pretty happy to finally get this chance. enlightened  I have another image from this sequence in which I like the placement of the giraffe and the sun a little better, but the silhouettes of the trees/bushes are more distracting.

Canon 100-400mm
ISO 400
1/640th
f/9

Really nice Max. Iconic Africa for sure.

Beautiful balance with your unmistakable giraffe and rising sun.  The bold shades of orange background bring it all together.

Max, I did immediately think about relative sun position but am not sure a non photo-geek audience would...I really wonder, however, how you managed an eye level perspective with a giraffe!

Max: nothing cliche about this at all. Yes, others have made photos like this, but yours and theirs as well still look very good. Richard

Hi Max,

I like the strong graphic nature of this. I'm not sure the sun adds a lot for me in this one...to me it almost detracts a little from the simplicity of the image?

Glad you satisfied your need get the cliched shot (in your words, not mine!!). enlightened

Cheers...
