Beautifully composed with nice color.  The lens flare is a bit of a distraction, though.  It would work well either with wider view and a full sun star or shot as is but without the flare.

What a great fall picture. I actually like the flare but could easily be talked into not liking it. It's like Elizabeth Taylor's mole: by itself it's not much, but on the place it grew from it makes the face beautiful.

Ian,

I'm really enjoying the canopy of fall color as well as the carpet of leaves.  The glow in the leaves is wonderful and I like the balanced comp.

I'm with Brian though on the flare.  It's interesting because the light/exposure of the scene doesn't really speak to me with direct light - there shadows are all diffused as if it were overcast. So for me the flare is somewhat out of place; and as also mentioned I think it's one of those things, either more of a sunstar effect, or none at all.  But, I'll say it's not killing the image - still lovely.

Beautiful colors and scene. As mentioned, the lens flare distracts me a bit.

Really a nice fall image, Ian.  I agree that the flare is a distraction.  I really like the intimate feel of the composition.

I'm not quite sold on the flare. Aside from that, I think it's a super image. Love the carpet of leaves and the comp is excellent with the tree placed off center and the gentle arc of the branch filling the right side with that great color.

This is a very pretty, well composed image. I would attempt to clone out the previously mentions lens flare which is a bit distracting.

I love the character of that tree and it's placement in the scene, Ian. This is one of those very relaxing and serene images that is thoroughly enjoyable to the viewer. Great work.

Many thanks for the comments.  It does look better without the flare which I think I've removed ok.

This is wonderfully warm and inviting, Ian!  There's a fine sense of depth and those light streaks at the top are a great addition to the mood.

Your composition is nicely balanced to me in terms of colors and placement of the elements. The streaks of flare in the original are a negative to me.

The composition is lovely, and the processing and color work very well, especially in the re-post. Removing the flare was a great suggestion, and you did a nice job eliminating it. I have to say that I really like that beech tree.

Another gorgeous and serene autumn scene, Ian. I.m not sure that the flare bothers me all that much, and I am torn between both versions. Yes, the "clean" version may be more "perfect", but the flare does give a feeling of vintage movie that is not unpleasant. They are different images, and I like them both.
