Final Curtain

Thought I'd take a page from Nick's "moods of November" theme. A "curtain" of heavy morning fog Thursday morning essentailly ended what was left of fall color season here. On Friday, it was 71 degrees, but winter arrived a day later with snow, high winds, and temps in the 20's. Mill Creek Park, Youngstown. D600, 18-35 @ 22, f11, 1/60, iso 400 (hh). Suggestions and other comments welcome.

The misty background and the gentle reflection add a nice contrast to foreground trees and allow them to stand out. The mood is certainly soft and peaceful. I would like to see a bit more of the immediate foreground and the curve of the fallen leaves in the water. I do like the warmth of the image.

Scott,

This most certainly reflects a late autumn "mood" especially with the fog sealing everything in.  The subtle color here works beautifully.

The image almost seems like two halves. It's not bothering me, but I'm wondering if you cropped in from the right a little bit to move the focus back towards the middle and using the two sets of trees to sort of  frame the mood - if that makes sense.  Just a thought.

I'm really liking the quiet mood you've captured.

Just enough detail in the background fog to provide the feeling of depth. So much to look at in this image.

There's a wonderful delicate sense about this image due to how the branches lace across the canvas. One thing to consider would be to cool the overall image a bit yet warm up the brown leaves. See if that interplay works for this image. Really nice image.

Scott, What a wonderful November image you made here and I like it very much as it is. It captures beautifully that special mood that November seems to have. This comp works really well for me and I love the fine detail of the small branches and remaining leaves with the foggy background. Nice work on this!

The fog creates nice separation between the foreground and background and adds to the mood of this image as well.  I like the subtle orange color palette with the last remnants of autumn leaves.

Great shot as is Scott, but I'm really tantalized by that background. Did you happen to get a shot of just that? I love that tree back there in the fog.

Nice look through the trees, Scott.  Definitely has that mid-west November mood.  I was born in Ohio and have lots of relatives there and in Pa.  Haven't been back for a number of years, but images like this give my the feel of being there.  Nice work.

Such a great atmosphere here, Scott. I agree with more foreground both for the trees and the leaves curve.

great eye to see this , Scott. I have trouble spotting stuff like this when I'm out shooting. It humbles me.The fog makes for a great seperation of the elements.devil

I always find images like these so relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable to view, Scott. The atmospherics with the fog help set the table for the remaining subtle fall color in the image. Wonderful job with this.
