Shenandoah #1 + Repost

I got to Shenandoah NP too late for the fall color show, but there still some nice saturated colors  from the clouds rolling in. Don't know the techs. A couple years ago, I somehow lost half my files and all I have left from this trip are some jpegs I made up.

Michael, I love the foreground. Very colorful with lots attractive rocks and shrubs. Overall, the image is excellent with the fog adding a nice mood. Personally, I'd be inclined to crop the sky (crop just at the top of the shortest trees) and make this image all about the colorful meadow. There is still enough fog in the background for the mood.

Nice pull from your archive, Michael. I like the soft light and muted color. The Contrast looks just fine. Nice image!

This is really beautiful. The soft light, fog and rich colors are a wonderful combination. Processing looks good on my monitor. Only thought would be to lighten the foreground ever so slightly.

I really like these warm yet somber autumns colors. Together with the rocks it makes for a very appealing composition. Although the fog adds a lot of atmosphere and mood I don't feel you need the entire tree line to achieve that. I guess I would crop out much of the sky and not worry that the entire tree line on the upper left be included in the composition. I would crop as necessary to make sure this image is mostly about the fg tree/foliage and the midground boulders.A little off the top and a little off the left.

Nice colors throughout the foreground with added textures of the rocks to make it interesting.

Michael,

I love the rich autumn colors here - really enhanced by the light/fog.  I would agree with the other comments about a crop. The treeline isn't as important to the scene; the emphasis is on the field of color.

Looks there was tons of stuff to explore in this area.  A beautiful scene and image.

This has a very somber mood with the foggy conditions, but contrasted with the bright color in the foreground vegetation which makes for an interesting juxtaposition.

I was going to write almost exactly what Scott said in the first comment. Gorgeous foreground Michael.

Thanks the ticket!  Thanks for taking the time to post the alternative.  What do you think of it?  No right or wrong answers of course with our images.

The repost is right on Micheal.  Love the colors in the meadow which is only enhanced by the fog.

The original is perfect in every way, in my view, and I would not touch it. I most definitely do not agree with cropping off the treetops!!

Lon, I actually had the repost ready to go when I posted the original. Didn't know which I preferred, so posted original to see what others thought.

This quiet autumn scene is dripping with mood, Mike. The fog is perfect for rendering all the lush wet fall colors and I like the placement of the rocks scattered around the image. I can not decide which version I like better. That sucks about the files; hopefully you will be able to recover them someday.

Simply entrancing, Michael !!   The repost works fine, though personally I rather like the distant, fading view which give such depth to the original.
