Fern Spring, Yosemite

Thank you for your comments on my previous image! This one was made in the deep shade of early morning. I was drawn not only to the Autumn leaves, but more so to the small cascade. The Fern Spring waters have been used for drinking water for many generations, and it is still the best water in Yosemite.

Great color and perspective in this, Preston.  I especially like the Salvadore Dali-esque effect of the leaf plastered at the top and the water flowing down toward another leaf caught in a swirl.  Very fun to look at.

Preston, I bet the thundering sounds from that waterfall were just pounding in your head when you made this shot..cool
A very nice delicate and quiet feel seems to go along with this image. Nice colors and some very nice texture and details in the wet rock.

This is great stuff Preston.  It stood out to me the instant I saw it.  I love the wee trapped pine needles and the leaves top and bottom of this tiny sliver of falling water, excellent find and beautifully executed.

A superb comp and very nice mini falls scene.
The leaf arrangement is especially nice.

Preston,

One of the finest images I've seen from one of the most photographed springs on the planet.  In fact you could get away with not even mentioning Fern Springs. ;-)  This is just terrific.  The tiny cascade is awesome; it connects the upper and lower elements of leaves.  and as someone pointed out, all those clinging pine needles really make the image.

Your processing is masterful here.  the only minor suggestion might be to do a slight burn on the leaves a the bottom; and just the bottom half of the leaves at the bottom.  Just darkening the very bottom a little bit helps contain and frame the image just a little more.  Otherwise, this is fabulous.

BTW, I make it a point to bring home jugs of water from this spring.  It is indeed the best water I've ever had.  I'm all out and need a return trip for a refill!

A beautiful little rivulet, Preston.  The "split scene", almost tryptich, view is tied together well by the little falls.

Love this little mini falls, Preston. I wonder if you could bill this as the "Miniature Yosemite Falls" or something like that. It is very cool that in the place noted for its amazing falls, you found this tiny one. I like that the leaves provide not only color and beauty, but a nice size reference. Well seen/shot. Like it a lot.

Lovely play of scale, Preston, with the mind imagining giant maple leaves cascading down the falls.  Exquisite textures where the needles have fallen over the rocks.

Hi Preston, I don't know Fern Spring, so I have to judge the image as is ... but whatever the location the idea is great and wonderfully executed ...

As Marylynne said, the "Dali-esque" feel to this is really neat. There is just a unique feel to the whole image. It is quiet, yet has movement. Nice!

Real nice little microscene, PB. Processing looks spot on and a sweet little scene. No suggestions here.

I like how the small cascade connects the two maple leaves in the composition.  The color in the leaves add to the mood of the comp.

A wonderful intimate snippet. I could just hear the trickling of the water.

Lovely, intimate landscape with lots to look at. It looks like pine needles on the face of the rocks. The big yellow leaf at the bottom that is pointing to the little cascade is a nice touch, as are the leaves at the top. I've been to Yosemite many times but am not familiar with this place and will have to look it up.

I've never really thought of shooting a "tiny" falls; I'll have to be on the lookout for one of these. I really like what the leaves bring to this. Great eye Preston.
