During our trip to Yosemite in November, we had a great time wandering around Bridal Veil Creek. This was shot from the first bridge.

Very nice Preston.  Excellent shutter speed and the slight touch of color adds a lot.  I do wish there was a bit more room at the bottom but that's minor.

Preston,

Was wondering when of if you were going to post this.  I'll hold off on my not-so-similar version until later. ;-)

I like this one a lot!  What works for me here is that this is NOT just a flowing water/cascade image. It's also about the rocks, the geology of the area, the various boulders(giant,) rock and how the water finds it's way through all the randomness.  So yes, the flowing water kind of ties it all together, but I'm really liking that you chose to include much of hte granite as well.

I suppose one could debate the bottom of the frame, perhaps where to crop - or not.  I think this works as presented, but can see the potential for suggestions.

Well done on the processing too.

This is sweet, Preston. The movement of water through the image makes for a very pleasing comp and the few random spots of color from the fallen leaves add some additional visual interest. The comp. works as presented but I think I might be inclined to crop a slice off the top to just above the small lichen-covered rock near the center of the flow. As usual your processing looks very natural.

That's pretty.  What is it about rushing water that we all like, anyway??  I do like the leaves, and kind of wish a few more could be there.... sad
Excellent job on the comp and exposure and processing;  this is just sweet to look at.

Very nice, Preston. A well balanced comp and well timed ss. I think cropping the top, as suggested by Dave, simplifies the image but it's hard not to have the water coming from the top right not look cut off. All in all, I like this as presented.

I think it's nice as is, but if you could have found a comp that featured the leaves a little more that would have been better.

What a harmonious composition in terms of balance and flow. The splashes of colour from the leaves add a lot too.

This is fantastic, Preston. Your SS choice was perfect as you were able to give the water texture and detail while still portraying movement as it flows through the boulders in the scene and those leaves scattered throughout the image add a nice little touch of color. Beautiful work.

Preston, I'm really enjoying the look and feel of this image. Your composition works so well with such a nice flow of water through the rocks. The color looks great and the scattered leaves are a wonderful touch. Fantastic detail and textures all adding up to a wonderful capture. Nice work on this!

Really enjoy the flow and texture in the water, Preston, and how the water, through your excellent composition, complements the fascinating rock forms with the lichen.  The bit of autumn with the few leaves adds a nice touch.  Excellent as always.

You and Lon have a knack for this type of scene...it seems like it would be easy to find spots like this, but I can't say I've succeeded on my few prior trips to Yosemite.  The fall leaves add just the right touch of color and visual interest to make this a winner.

I love this photograph for two reasons. It showcases the gentle beauty of outdoor locations and at the same time teaches us about the forces that shape such landscapes. It's rare that the two are so evident in a single picture.

Its always a pleasure to see your work, Preston.

Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and holidays!
