A Dinner Ride

During last spring's Florida rivers outing with Mike Ramy, we happened to find this Black Vulture attempting to dine on a dead turtle floating in the water.  Coming in slowly by boat, let us get nicely close before the Vulture hopped off and into the cattails on shore.  (5D3, 70-200 f2.8 @ 200mm, 1/500s, f/8, iso 800, tripod, full frame)

Excellent job on the exposure, Mark and a great pose.  That's one big turtle-did you figure out the species?  Interesting from a natural history perspective as well.  I can just imagine what the scene would look like if the other vultures had discovered it and come in.

Nicely seen and taken!  I like the detail in the vultures feathers.  A bit more in the turtle would be nice if possible.  Also like the water drops.  Thanks for sharing.

Nice detail, Mark. Unusual to see these two creatures together. Great job getting all the exposure ranges with plenty of detail in each.
