I tried not to focus on the icons but on the clichés when I was in Italy this fall; just for fun... This is Sienna.

A cliche' is still a good thing when it's this well done.

Nicely done. Seems like every little town has laundry strung from windows and over ally's drying in the fresh air. I enjoyed shooting the colors, types of laundry, ingenious hanging methods etc. I even tried to figure out if any particular day of the week was for certain items...Monday for pants, Tuesday for sheets, Wednesday for shirts, etc. On some days it seemed to work, on other days everything and anything was hung to dry; fun shooting though.

David: glad you focused on what you did, as this is a most pleasing image. I like the tones and how the dark areas lead your eye to the nicely lit brighter areas. Bravissimo! Richard

Very nicely composed and lit photo. It's a great story full of mystery. Icon vs. cliché. You're right. They aren't necessarily the same thing.

Wonderful chiche setting, David. Good going with the WP, and the larger image is much better (w/o the black BG).
