"Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky."
~Rabindranath Tagore

Happy 2017, everyone! I figured it would be a nice way to begin the year with a colorful sunset. Standing at this vantage point was certainly a heart in mouth experience. With not much real estate available, a misstep would mean a 100-150 foot fall into the ocean below. When I first got here, there was no clear horizon and the coast was completely fogged in. The mood was certainly not as vibrant as you see here. However, 20 minutes before sunset, the fog cleared and the sky started to light up. The light show was so intense it lasted for a whole 30 minutes. In fact, I had already packed up my gear to leave and still the light show was going on.
Here's to a great year ahead.

Appreciate your thoughts on this one!

I hope this is a good omen for your year to come, Sairam. You really lucked out on the fog clearing and did a fine job capturing this gorgeous scene. I like the long exposure in the water and the detail you were able to retain in the rocks. Your composition is also very appealing, as well as the colors.

Sairam,

OH MY! What a glorious sight to have witnessed and photographed.  The drama of light and color is exquisite.  And what ties the entire scene together for me is the silky sea foam and longer exposure creating all the soft, lovely patterns in the sea.

Outstanding! What a way to bring in the new year!

Ooh very pretty.  New Years day in Scotland, it rained torrentially for 36 hours.  Nicer this morning though just grey.

Everything worked out big time!  We all dream about sky colors like this, and you matched with a beauty of a coastline.  Is this CA or OR coast?  Looks familiar, just can't place it.  The stacks are nicely balanced.  The swirling water adds a lot of interest for me in the darker water areas.  Not sure how to improve upon this.  Excellent job.

That is really eye-catching. It's soft and yet bright at the same time.  The colors and perceived movement is absolutely lovely.
I wish you'd put down the tech numbers; I'd like to know what you did with this.  Really nice.

Sairam, This is so beautiful. The larger version is quite a treat to view. I like this comp very much... and the light, colors and long exposure have all worked together wonderfully.
