Ruby-crowned Kinglet

This has been one of my nemesis birds.  Been trying to get one for years.  This guy actually sat fairly still for a couple of seconds so I could get a few shots.  This was the best one though I know the background is not great, nor is the light.  I just feel good that I was able to capture one sharply.  D500, 150-600 @ 600, F8, 1/1250, ISO 1000.  C & C greatly appreciated.

Nice going, Jim.  These little critters rarely stop, so getting one at all is an accomplishment.  Excellent sharpness.  You don't mention processing, but if you can select the bird and separate it from the background, you should be able to brighten it slightly so it pops more.  You might even dodge the head and beak slightly relative to the rest of the body, but that can be tricky to keep it looking natural.

Dennis, thanks for the comments and suggestions.  I might try selecting the bird to brighten it some.  Yes, major dodging can be a bit risky but sometimes works out well.

Congrats Jim, I have ran across a couple of these before and they didn't cooperate very well either. You did manage great detail in the Kinglet. More room on top may improve the image some too. Well done!
