From up the Buttermilk Country, in the eastern Sierra west of Bishop, this little bush found a toehold on a decomposing granitic slope.

That's some serious looking granite, Dave.  The diagonals are awesome and the lighting works very well.  I do think a bit off the top would put the bush in a better position in the frame.

Very nice layer diagonals in the granite.   I'm guessing this is a telephoto shot.  Nicely composed with very nice lighting to accentuate the lines and textures.

Strong, in your face image, D. A , with fine lighting and textures.  The little bush sits nicely as a focal point.

This tight look at a simple bush sure does a great job of emphasizing the diagonals of the eroded rocks, Dave.  I'm just loving the drama that you captured here.  I think the extra sense of depth that the bit of ridge in the upper right adds is an important of this view.

Those light and dark diagonals, together with the bush as an eye catcher, make for a really strong image.  As the color is already muted, it might be interesting to try a B/W version.

A really nice organic abstract, Dave!  Nicely composed, making good use of those strong diagonals.

I like the crisp diagonal lines, and the depth they create in this image.  I agree with the comment that Dennis made concerning the position of the small bush in the frame.  I think that the composition would be a little stronger if you cropped the image so that the position of the bush in the frame follows the rule-of-thirds guideline.  I'd also suggest dodging the darker rock at the lower left, as it tends to draw attention away from the primary elements of the composition.
