Juvenile Verreaux's

During this year's South Africa safari, our group came across a young Verreaux's Eagle-Owl perched near the road as we were rumbling along on a morning drive in Kruger National Park.  It flew from the road up to this perch, which was right at eye level.  Conditions were still a bit dark at this point in the morning, so I asked our guide to supplement the dawn glow with a spotlight.  Thankfully, we had a still subject and were able to snap a couple quick photos before moving on.

Nice detail in the owl, Max and a neat perch.  I'd be tempted to remove the oof part of the perch on the left.

Really nice. Looks pretty natural in spite of the spot light used. Well done.

That's a really nice sighting and I am suitably envious.  Well done!

Very nice pose and head turn.   I agree that it looks pretty natural considering the spotlight.  Almost looks like a late afternoon  sun.

Really nice capture for the conditions you describe Max. Great idea using the spotlight to adapt. It looks very natural. I agree with Dennis about removing the oof branch in the left corner if you're into that. Cool shot!
