This is one of those images where the experience was more impressive than an image can portray. I arrived at Prairie Creek State park in northern CA surrounded by thick fog, but it was not in the grove of redwoods that would have made the most interesting shots.  This was near the parking lot shortly after sunrise, and the skies went from thick fog to no fog in  a matter of minutes so I didn't have much time to find a comp.  While the lighting was interesting, not sure that the comp is that strong.  More of a fun shot and would see how I felt about it several months later.  The scene reminded me of Transformer movie emerging from the mist.  Cinematic lighting of course!

Harry,

Great impact and drama - and as you already illustrate, this could really stir the imagination.  Graphic nature and the optical effect of the fog and tree is quite the unique phenomena.  Lot's of negative space, but this image a great example where it works in the favor of the image; giving the sun's rays "room to grow" and also letting the imagination fill in the gaps.

Harry, you captured a fleeting moment and you convey it impressively to me. Your spontaneous decision regarding the composition works very well for me.

I like this for the drama and immediate visual impact that is conveyed, Harry. Well composed with the tree towering over the viewer and the rays coming down. As I say, a unique image with immediate dramatic impact on the viewer.

Very striking and eerie image Harry.  Love the dark shadow beams which impart a sinister mood.
