I think this composition works well, with the flowers curving around the right side of the cactus. Very nice.

Gerald: I noted on your recent Bryce Canyon post that someone made a veiled comment about post/comment ratio. I'm certainly not doctrinaire regarding the recommended 5 comments per post ratio, especially for new members. NPN is a great place to learn and when you're new the overall quality of posts may seem a little intimidating making one reluctant to comment. But the quality of your images certainly does fit in here so I would encourage you to comment on other's work even if you just say you like the shot. I've found that the one thing that made me a better photographer was looking at a lot of images carefully enough to make a comment and then emulating the good and avoiding the bad. Your Flora images are very good so I hope you become a regular poster and commenter and uplift the gallery in both aspects. A nice array of blooms, with outstanding color and detail. I think it's a little tight in the frame, especially the left and top sides.

Another lovely composition, Gerald. If you could have backed up enough to get all the spines on the left in the frame, it might have been nice, but finding space and angles in botanical gardens can be difficult. Your dof seems like a good choice as anything more would really make the bg too distracting.
