Jim,

Fascinating intimate. Hard pressed to think this is wood - could easily be stone, especially considering some of the cool tones scattered about.

The only suggestion I have is to consider dropping the exposure a 1/2 stop or so.

Well seen.

Excellent textural study, Jim, with a nice contrast in tonality between the warm browns and the cool greys.  The composition works well, with a definite diagonal flow binding the various elements.  Good work !!

Thank you Ian and Lon.  Here's a version with the exposure dropped by a 0.5 of a stop.  Much more serene with deeper blue grays...............Jim

That's the ticket. Small and subtle change, but improved the image, at least for me.

Thanks for reworking and posting.

I like this abstract a lot, Jim. It looks like an aerial picture and I love when I do not  understand the scale of the image. The second version goes a little bit more towards the abstract, thus I would prefer that!

I would not have guessed this is wood.  This image has great lines and texture.  I'm curious why you shot this scene as HDR.  It seems like you could have captured all of the tonal range in a single exposure.  Either way the end result looks great!

Excellent abstract detail image. It could be wood or rock. Real nice shapes and colors. Very sweet.

Very interesting, Jim.  Even with you telling me that it's firewood, I had a hard time wrapping my head around it.  That's a good thing.  Fascinating.

I would have never guessed this was firewood!  Rock, yes, but wood, no.  Either way, it's quite attractive.  I prefer the original version best.  To me, the drop in exposure dulls the overall scene.  With either image, I might suggest a revisit with curves to brighten the lighter elements and increase contrast just a wee bit.

Hey Jim,
Well seen and presented, the repost, as mentioned, very small change with big results.
Nicely done . . .  laugh

Interesting abstract suggesting organic forms. I'm wondering if enhancing some of the blue color here would make it more varied. As it stands now this may be better in b&w with greater contrast.
