Canon EOS 7D EF400mm f/5.6L USM
1/800 sec;   f/7.1;   ISO 640
Manual;   Evaluative metering
LR5, PS6, Topaz DeNoise on background, Topaz Detail on bird, full frame

I like the way the bird stands out from the background here, and so I didn't make any lighting adjustments or do any cropping.  I wanted to see what you all thought.  As you know, I have no trouble doing any kind of adjustments or cropping, but when I saw this image my first thought was not to do anything to it but noise reduction on the background and detail enhancement on the bird.

Since the lighting seems to be different on my images between the larger and smaller versions, please look at the larger image if you can.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Sweet, Barbara.  This works very well as posted, though I think a slight crop from the top and left to decenter the bird just a bit more and  maybe removing the in-focus reed top in the lower right would make it even better, but that's just my take on it.

This is really nice Barbara. I like it as posted although cropping in a small amount will bring more focus on the bird and eliminate the area that Dennis mentioned. I think it would improve the comp some. I might even try a vertical crop to see how that looks. The light is very sweet indeed.

I like how the warbler pops...esp the way the light is on the head and is contrasted against the b/g.  Would like a little boost of brightness to its lower half too.   Well done.

Here's a repost with, I think, all your suggestions except for the vertical crop.  I may try that, too, but not as a repost.

Barbara,
You sure have been busy lately posting some excellent images that has been enjoyable viewing indeed.
This one is no exception with the great light, pose, detail and I'm lovely the environmental aspect.
The repost seems a bit to similar to the original to make much difference in fact I like the original better. I believe that Dennis's suggestion was to eliminate the reed bloom on the left all together and leave all the room on the right to maintain the environment.
Well done . . . laugh

Hi Barbara.  I do like the repost, and it's about the crop I was thinking of.  Whether it's any better is probably pretty subjective.  The larger version of the repost is really nice.

Very nice lighting in this and the repost is much better crop.  The only thing I would do with the repost is perhaps darken the flower in the lower left corner area as it seems to draw my attention away from the bird.  Otherwise a very nice image
