Foraging Raven

Ravens are one of my favorite avian subjects.  They've got an underrated beauty thanks to the iridescent color in their feathers that emerges in the right light, and they're also incredible smart, so it's possible to document some interesting behavior from time to time.  Last fall I was in Yellowstone photographing a raven pair when one hopped over to a large bison patty and flipped it over to look for tasty bugs.

Yeah, ravens are really interesting and very smart and they are amazing to watch.  You really did a good job in bringing out the subtleties in the black color of this bird.  And has a fascinating expression as it turns over the  Buffalo patty.

What a cool behavior shot Max. I like it as posted and the pano crop works perfectly. You managed to pull out detail in the blacks extremely well. Nice work!

Nice behavioral shot. I've taken a few images of these fellows in Yellowstone. They are indeed beautiful in the right light. They are just incredibly hard to photograph, at least for me.

Like it !
Blacks  done well as mentioned. They are  indeed hard birds but so comical to watch at close range.. I had 19 on a dead sheep once but only got three shots of one bird !!

I like Ravens as well, Max. But because they are so smart, they sure are hard to capture in a nice image. You did very well here. Really nice detail in the blacks and the light shows off the iridescence in the feathers. Really nice image.
