Morning Fog

This is a picture I made this morning where Otter Creek flows into the Wisconsin River. We had a lot of early morning fog so I had a chance to get out and make a couple of new pictures. It turned out to be a wonderful morning for me to shoot and I think I got a couple of pictures I like. Up to 60 degrees here today and a record warm for the 4th day.
Canon 5D3, 24mm, ISO 400, F/11 and 1/125 sec. tripod.

Nick...the mood is fantastic, so is the comp. Two actions 1. Print large 2. Hang on the wall. Great work

Exceptional Nick. I love the soft light from the fog and the glow of the diffused sun. The dark silhouetted curving trunks of the trees really provide a wonderful graphic quality.  Beautifully done.

What a strong moody image, this is a winner...the backlit trees and their arching patterns are fantastic and engaging...the light  blue misty fog provides a wonderfully  mysterious quality. One of the best.

This beautifully captures the quiet, calmness of a foggy morning, Nick.  Those arching tree shapes add well to the soothing nature of the view.

Exceptional image, Nick. Everything (fog, light, still reflection) came together beautifully in a well composed image. devil

Nick, a wonderful lifting fog scene. Is somber, but also extremely calming affect at the same time. No thoughts for change from my perspective.......laugh

Nick,

Out of chaos comes one of those moments in nature one just wants to watch and absorb.

Got nothin' for you Nick - no nits or suggestions.  Simply a wonderfully serene image.

HI Nick,

It sure has been a mild winter for us, and I believe you have also been in the same boat.

This image is so sweet with the diffused dreamy atmosphere. It really works with graphic nature of threes along with the soft warm light. You did a great job with the proportions of water/reflection to land as well as the image is nicely balanced. This image feel kind of sophisticated for myself, I think it is some really fine work.

This has a very northern look to it in that a very gentle warm light breaks through the grey. As a life long Californian it's hard to emotionally relate to this, although I've seen paintings like this. I like how the large trees form giant X's as they bend from one another. This doesn't have the strong graphic quality of your earlier winter scenes this year. I can't think of suggestions to make. I think that it would probably be better without the heavier fog on the right side of the image but I don't think that can now be changed effectively. But I'm not sure that a more uniform light in the trees would look better.

Wow.  I don't know how you do this, but it is incredible.  The sharpness of the near trees versus the fog and soft feel of the other trees, along with the sweet color.  Excellent.devil

Nick, once again you convey the specific atmosphere of a scene ín a convincing way to me. The composition is most interesting to my eye, as the sun is centered but there is an asymmetry in the background tonality, which makes for an appealing tension.

I just think of reducing the saturation of the blue part of the sky in the upper left corner, as it draws my attention a bit to much I think. But this is only a minor matter for me, I enjoy you image a lot.

Thanks Genny and Peter.
Peter, Yes, A little more blue sky showing through the fog there so that might be a good idea. Thanks!
