Red Lion Amaryllis
I sometimes find large flowers like Amaryllis tough to compose and capture but I liked the stages of the blooms on this stem, the raindrops and the relatively pristine condition of the flower. Used a black mat board for the BG. A Photo Art version is here http://www.naturephotographers.net/imagecritique/ic.cgi?a=vp&pr=242147&CGISESSID=78b12ca38365100d4f94db0052558c3a&u=16378&title_action=

I've never had much luck with these. This is better than I have done, so I shouldn't complain. Well, maybe I should. The front blossom is ever so slightly OOF.sad

Beautiful photo, Bill.  I assume using the background board allows you to use a greater DOF.  You nailed it!

Yes this flower is not easy to photograph but I think that you have done the best possible for composition, sharpness, colors and BG.

I think you did an excellent job composing this, Bill, and the colors are wonderful!  I love the raindrops, too.
