Sandy, It is a well lit and pretty water lily. The lily pad is of a different luminance altogether. If this is a Photoshop achievement in post processing, it seems hardly believable that this was an achievement  of nature. The question for me then becomes, "is this within the scope of artistic license?" I can't answer that, but it is worth considering.

Sandy: The lighting here is intriguing. Is the lily pad submerged? I do like the comp and the presentation. A thought provoking image.>=))>

Phil, 100% nature. Nothing but flower, water and submerged (as Bill thought) pad, and a levels/sat adjustment. We are traveling the next couple week, so have only the laptop. Looks quite different on the laptop than the home PC. On the PC, a gentle outline of the pad, soft but clearly seen. I will post a screenshot when i get back. Things just don't always translate from screen to NPN post well.
It's good to be provoked sometimes! makes us think!

A beautiful interpretation of a water lily with personal colors that I like very much. A classical composition with a clear design on the blackboard.

I love how fresh and new the water lily looks and also the wonderful vibrant colors.  I like the submerged lily pad.  I think it creates a cool effect.
