Winter Contentment

Here's a go at a vertical comp from camping on Mt. Hood a few weekends back. I have several more from this same day to post. They were all taken with Hood in bright light; it was interesting to watch the light change in the rest of the scene over several hours.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100, handheld at 10.4 mm (28.0 mm equivalent)
1/400 sec at f/11 and ISO 125
I've cloned out a bit of contrail that was in the lower right corner.

John, this scene has skiers and boarders drooling I suspect. What a magnificent view of this snow covered winter wonderland. Looks like the window of opportunity was perfect to take this one in, excellent timing.

I really like the way the peak is framed by the trees. A great catch, John.

I think I like the framing better in this image than your previous post.  Some of those trees in the distance would probably make some nice elements, but the closer you get to them, the more Mt. Hood is lost behind the closer hill.  Looks cold!

Great winter scene and the light on Mt. Hood really draws you into it.  If anything, I could see brightening up the foreground a bit.  Nicely done.

Another great look. For us locals, the mountain is so buried this year, it does not even look the same!
You captured the majesty very well....

Beautiful winter scene, John. The shadows are as sweet as the mountain.  Very, very nice. Looking forward to more.

John,

If one could ever be content in a winter mountain landscape is sub-zero temps... this would be the image I would want in my mind. ;-)

While the wider view was spectacular, I think I almost prefer this more intimate landscape; still shows the mountain in it's glory, but also gives more play to the foreground - ie. closer to camp, and/or the viewer.

Both are spectacular winter landscapes.

Anotehr beautiful winter snowscape, John. Very clean and pristine. As suggested previously, I could see brightening the foreground just a bit. Kudos for braving the winter elements to get these unique snowscapes. They will make terrific prints.

This is a fine statement about being there on a lovely winter's day, John.  The untracked snow, the light on Hood and that bit of cloud blowing in come together well to create the feeling that you describe in your title.

Really nice winter scene. I get cold just looking at it. It feels nice and crisp! Very tranquil.
