"Regal" and "grackle" don't fit in the same sentence, to me! blushafter the experiences I've had with them nesting in trees outside my bedroom window!
Kidding aside, this is a sweet image - a different pose, unusual to have water in the BG, and a great rock perch.
I think you could recover more detail in the blacks with a bit more work.
Nice image!

Very cool image Jerry.  Love the pose.  Interesting place to find this guy.  I think your blacks look great.

Beautiful composition and pose and a great job of catching the iridescence, Jerry.  I find these birds amazing.  They certainly have a wonderfully complex vocabulary.

Wonderful pose, perch and detail.  The BG and comp are just as regal...

Hi Jerry,

Pretty cool shot--pose and processing are spot on.  This species is a more elaborate version of the grackles that decimate my feeders at this time of year in Michigan...............................Jim

The "regal" pose is seen frequnetly at this season as the males display against each other to attract mates. I see them in this habitat a lot here around Phoenix.

A good example of why any bird is worth observing and photographing.
