Peaceful Oak

This sinkhole not far from home fills during the winter rains. I spied this on a drive-by a few ago and decided to wait for nice light: I got it yesterday morning. I liked the old oak among the bushes along with the gentle reflection.

Wonderfully tranquil scene.  Among other things I like the what the trunk and it's reflection create a convergent focal point for the scene.

Your title conveys the essence of the scene, Preston. Calm and peaceful. I like it.

Excellent image, Preston. The oak is nicely positioned creating a very pleasing comp. I could see bumping up the green vibrance a touch to bring out that fresh spring green look.

Love this Preston!  To me, the balance between the reflection the real tree is perfect.  The dappled light and shadow play is wonderful too.  Processing, color, all is great here.  I like Tony's comment about the converged focal point!

Wonderful image, beautifully seen and executed.  One of my favorites of your recent images!

Ah, a beauty, love the stillness and gorgeous reflection.  The greens (electric) in your other images were a little too much for my tastes, although I know how "electric" the greens can look in the spring; this image is wonderful.

Another really solid image. If you keep this up Lon will start looking into the rear view mirror more often. The light conditions are pretty harsh but the sense of the place is clearly brought across. On a sunny hot day in that part of the world water and shade are so inviting. I've spent entire summer afternoons pleasantly in the shade in such a spot. Often fishing for largemouth bass. Well done, sir.

Superb Central California scene.  Could be a lazy river.  Back in the 70's, I was a professional river guide and worked the "Stan". (Stanislas).  This could easily be a quiet stretch there.  Very nice color and form here.

Sometimes the Title is an integral part of the image; well done here Preston. This is a simple photo in many ways, but the "Peaceful Oak" says it all.

Preston, there is a wonderful serenity to this scene for me. A nicely balanced composition to my eye, consistent with the atmosphere, and I also appreciate you careful treatment of colors a lot. Maybe opening up the shadows in the trunk might be an option. I really enjoy the feel to this image.
