Dunlin

This is from early May 2012 in Gulfport in the early stages of breeding season.  Original raw file was slightly cramped at the tail, so I added some room using content aware crop.  I kind of regret having traded that Olympus glass.

Excellent detail and color, Bill.  I really like the composition with the nice diagonal formed by the bird's back.  A very nice image.

Very nice feeding pose and transition plumage Bill, if you were able to pull a touch more light out of the eye that would make this even better. devil

Beautiful detail, wonderful foreground/background.  I think Nate's suggestion about the eye is a good one.

Cool bird, pose, and BG. Really nice detail.
The important eye is quite dull and would benefit from some levels adjustment to brng out any colour and shine.
Nice image!

A nice, clean image! I like how much his plumage pops. I agree that you may want to try brightening the eye up a bit. :)

Thanks for the comments.  I agree that brightening the black eye might help.  I tried selectively brightening but it's simply not what they look like.  Willets are similar.

This is a fairly colorful bird.  The Dunlins that I see here are not nearly as colorful.  I don't know if you have Nik/Google Vivenza but it is free and I find it one of the best tools for working on bird eyes.
